Think about it. If you buy a course, it’s usually to DIY something, right? Not to get a quick-but-affordable project completed, or to learn how someone’s specific formula can get you better results than someone else’s.
But when I first started, I also heard about how amazing courses were and how many people were having success with them. 5 years ago, the course market wasn’t as saturated as it is today and it was still hard to really get traction.
Plus, with courses, I had to promote them, I had to manage students, and I had to worry about my gross competition buying access just to steal my stuff. Ugh.
This one took me over 5 years (and definitely some therapy) to figure out.
In 2015, I launched my own digital product store….and made $0. Whomp whomp! I didn’t get it. Where were all the customers? Weren’t there a bunch of coaches telling me digital products were “set it and forget it?” None of their techniques were working, though — and I realized it was because I wasn’t selling what they were selling.
So I set my mind to going all in and scaling my new digital products. Each year, I came up with a new strategy for selling digital products that worked better than anything anyone else was teaching.
By 2020, my products were in the hands of literally thousands of business owners. I’d scaled to multiple 6-figures. And it was happening so automatically, I didn’t have to work for 8 whole months!
